The Islamic Society of Corona/Norco (ISCN) hosted their annual
fundraising event on Saturday, June 6th at their location
at 465 Santana Way in the city of Corona. The city of Corona is
part of Riverside County and is off the 91 freeway. The main
purpose of the event was to collect funds and pledges in order to
begin construction of Phase II of the project which will include the
masjid prayer area. Approximately $500,000 is required to break
ground, and alhamdullilah, the ISCN is now one step closer to
achieving its goal.
The
theme of this fundraiser was “Moving Forward Insha’Allah” and
reflects the proactive approach and progressive nature of the ISCN
as it takes steps forward to begin the next phase of the
construction project, Phase II which ultimately will depend entirely
on the availability of funds and other resources.
Speakers at this event included Br. Ahmed Radwan who spoke about the
importance that everyone donate to the cause of Allah (swt) and to
not be excluded from such a noble undertaking. He further
reiterated the Hadith in which the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) said that
anyone who helps to build a Masjid or to help to build it even to
the extent of one brick or lesser, Allah (swt) will build a House
for him in jenna.
Br.
Abdel Jabbar Hamdan also spoke about the importance of donating on
behalf of our deceased parents and focused on the need of collective
community effort to accomplish the mission of the ISCN.
The
current chairman of the ISCN Br. Ahsan Baseer also spoke about
progress that the Masjid has made over the years, and thanked
members of the community for all their effort and on-going support.
The
fundraiser ended with comedy and musical performances by Br. Assad
Malik, Br. Idrees Gil and Br. Ali Qazi who provided the
entertainment element to the evening’s event which attracted the
youth in the community.
With the blessings and guidance of Allah (swt) and the generosity of
community members from Corona and neighboring cities, the ISCN
purchased 4.1 acres of land and successfully completed Phase I of
the construction project which includes the underground utilities,
parking lot, landscaping, multipurpose room, kitchen, offices, wudu
area and restrooms, and courtyard.
In
deed, members of the Corona community concur that the Masjid has
moved forward from where it originally began many years ago when
residents of Corona would meet and pray in the garage at the
residence of a local Muslim brother. To accommodate the growing
number of worshippers, a small warehouse space was leased.
Eventually, the community outgrew this small facility and this
compelled them to purchase an empty lot of land on Santana Way, and
to commence construction of a facility to accommodate the growing
number of Muslims in the vicinity. The Corona Masjid has recently
hired a new full time imam and director- Imam Mustafa Umar, who is a
local native to Orange County and was raised in the city of Tustin.
The
ISCN is currently appealing to all Muslims for their financial
assistance. Those interested in participating in this noble project
are kindly requested to send their financial contribution in the
form of a check made payable to the ISCN to the following address:
465 Santana Way, Corona, CA 92881. For those who prefer to

Brother Ahmed Radwan and the ISCN would like to express their
sincerest appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Ahmad Alam and his
newspaper for his continuous gracious support of this organization
and other masajids.
