That is what was one everybody’s
mind on the eve of Saturday May 8, 2010 when ULO sponsored its
first talent show at the Lakeview Senior Center Auditorium in
Irvine. From the uncontested sense of humor of the host Jamil
Soucar, 2 year old Talia Ghattas singing “Ha Sissan”, Ali
Bundakji’s Derbakkeh that sent the hall rocking, Zeina Itani’s
inspirational poem, all the way to Rola Naouchi magical voice of
“Ana Albi Dalili, the sold out crowd enjoyed one memorable
afternoon for years to come.
The event started with the U S &
Lebanese national anthems, followed by introductory remarks by
Mr. Fadi Ghattas, ULO’s President” who welcomed the attendees
and stressed the importance of supporting ULO in its mission to
bring the community together. Jamil Soucar then followed with
the participants, interviewing each participant with the “Kids
Say the Darndest Things” theme, and part one of the program was
well underway with poems, musical pieces, songs, and dances. The
crowd got a chance to participate through guessing songs played
by Jamil on the piano. Refreshments were served at intermission,
and the second part of the event started with more talents
entertaining the crowd. The evening was concluded with trophy
presentations and final remarks from Ahmad Shamroukh, ULO’s Vice
President, who thanked the participants and attendees, and
summed up ULO’s upcoming events.
